Workers at the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, have signed a communique to suspend strike and return to classroom, following a peaceful meeting between the management and Oyo state government led by Dr. Bisi Akin-Alabi, the special adviser on education to the Governor.
It was also also gathered that academic activities will resume fully in the College on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 as the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), agreed to suspend strike.
Only last week, the workers held members of the governing council hostage for many hours at the college premises.
The agreement, OYO INSIGHT learnt, was reached at a peace meeting convened by the Special Adviser which held at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Education on Sunday.
The meeting had in attendance government official, Council; College management, and three staff unions and Students representative.
Stakeholders at the meeting include, Segun Oyewumi, COEASU chairman, Acting PS., Min. Of Education, Mrs Ronke Fatoki, NASU Chairman Alh. Fatai, the SSUCOEN Chairman Mr Adeniji as well as the Provost Dr Rasak Adefabi.
The COEASU chairman and other stakeholders were unable to be reached as at the time of filing this report.
