An Islamic cleric, Khadilat Sheikh Quasim Akilapa has urged Nigerians to demonstrate humanity through tolerance, justice and service to the people.
According to him, this will guarantee a peaceful society and elevate the welfare of the people.
He stated this at the maiden edition of the Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe Annual Ramadan lecture held on Sunday 16th April, 2023 at the iconic Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
The event which was chaired by the Ekerin Olubadan, High Chief Amidu Ajibade, had the Chief Imam of Ibadan Land as Father of the day, Otun-Iyalode of Ibadan Land, High Chief (Alhaja) Amudalat Adekunle as the Mother of the day while the Aare Musulumi of Yoruba Land, Edo and Delta as the Special Guest of Honour.
In his remarks, the sponsor of the event, Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe enjoined Muslims to imbibe the lessons learnt during Ramadan even beyond the holy month. He urged all Nigerians to remain tolerant of one another despite our religious and tribal differences. He stated that our diversity should be seen as strength, rather than a tool to divide us, urging the masses not to fall for antics of agents of disunity.
The event was graced by eminent Islamic scholars and community leaders including
the SA Governor Seyi Makinde on Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Imam AbdRasheed AbdulAzeez (who represented the Aare Musulumi), Members of the Ibadan Land League of Imams, Chairman of Oyo state NUJ, Alh Demola Babalola and members of his Executive Council, Chief Bashiru Ajibade, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige, Hon Najeem Gbayawu, Hon Taofeek Oladejo, Alh Tope Yussuf Supreme, Erelu Lateefat Jaiyeoba, Dr Wale Sadeeq, Dr Sulaiman Alagunfon, Sheikh Sheu Alamu, Alhaji Basunu, Alhaji Kehinsi, Alhaji Ayetoro, Alhaji Gbamolada, Imam Garba Labo, Mogaji Ita Agbaakin, Alh Folohunso Popo, Baba Jegede, Alfa Inakoju, Prof Lateef Mudashiru, Dr Saheed Adetunbi Ige, and many others members of Muslim Ummah.
