The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli has described as shameful the recent delisting of 50 secondary schools by West African Examination Council, WAEC, in Oyo State.

The former Secretary to the Government of Oyo State stated this while featuring on a Splash FM radio program in Ibadan.

According to him, it is shameful for such thing to happen under Makinde’s government which has ‘education’ as one of its cardinal programs.

“It is very unfortunate that 50 schools would be delisted for examination malpractices under Makinde’s government that is deceiving the people of Oyo state that education is one of its cardinal programs. This is not a good development when we talk about education in Oyo State. It will no doubt affect the students of the affected schools in years to come when reference is made to such schools.”

Speaking further Barrister Alli condemned the Oyo state government for paying lip service to issues affecting education in the State.

“They should stop deceiving members of the public with propaganda. Education sector in Oyo state is in a bad shape. The government no longer gives subvention to schools. Many schools in the state are in total shambles.”

Also speaking about local government administration in Oyo state, Barrister Alli frowned at the attitude of the current dispensation in Oyo State which according to him has incapacitated most Local government chairmen from performing their duties.

“The current administration in Oyo State has rendered most local government chairmen useless.

“The Governor is in charge of the allocation and he decides what to give each local government in the State. That is why today, Oyo State is one of the states where the State House of Assembly has not attended to the bill on local government autonomy. I can assure that APC government under Senator Teslim Folarin will right this wrong come 2023.”

Also speaking to our correspondent about his ambition after the program, the former Secretary to the Government of Oyo State maintained that he has a record that will be very hard for any candidate from other parties to beat in that senatorial district.

“I have a record that is very hard for any candidate in the Oyo South Senatorial District to beat. Apart from the fact that I have been in politics before any of them; I have also held different political positions before any of them. I’m also a lawyer. I will not be employing any lawyer as a consultant when I get to the Senate. I already know and have a proper understanding of my position as a Lawmaker. I also have a lot programs that will have direct impact on the lives of the people.”
