There was a palpable fear that enveloped the University of Ibadan Community over the resurgence of COVID-19 patients in its fold.

The fear emanated more from the Institution Health Services -Jaja, where a staff of the University was admitted on Sunday and referred on Monday with symptoms of COVID-19 which was later confirmed at UCH.

Workers were seen trooping out of the clinic on hearing the news. No personal protective equipment was provided by the University management. Patients who came for care on Tuesday lamented on the lack of COVID-19 screening checks, no enforcement of facemask usage and no form of sanitization was done in Jaja.

The concerns of the UI Community, especially the patients and workers alike at JAJA Clinic is that Management ought to have shut down the clinic for two weeks and allow for fumigation and sanitisation of the whole area.

Also, all medical personnel in contacts with the said patients ought to have been asked to go into isolation in line with COVID-19 protocols while provision should be made for PPE to equip the health workers.

All efforts to speak with the Director of the Jaja Clinic, Dr Ronke Ajav proved abortive to know the next line of action.
