COVID-19: There Is No Testing Centre At UCH — CMD

The University College Hospital (UCH) has announced that there is no testing laboratory at the hospital.

This was disclosed by the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo during one of the visits of the commissioner of health, Dr. Victor Abiodun Bello to the hospital.

A press release dated 24th of April, 2020, signed by the public relations officer of the hospital, Toye Akinrinlola, stated that a suspected COVID-19 patient is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.

“The University College Hospital (UCH) wishes to inform the general public that there is no testing laboratory for COVID-19 at the Hospital. This was disclosed by the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo during one of the visits of the Honourable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Victor Abiodun Bello to the hospital.

“Meanwhile, a patient suspected to be COVID-19 is being treated in UCH ICU according to protocol by the case management team, and sample has been taken by the state laboratory team for testing.

“The Hospital awaits the test result from the appropriate quarters. We shall be updating you as events unfold,” he added.
