COVID-19: Poly Ibadan Produces Hand Sanitizers

The management of The Polytechnic Ibadan has announced the production of world-class hand sanitizers as part of its efforts to support the measures of the government to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease.
The management of the institution made the announcement in a press statement made available to OYOINSIGHT.COM signed the Registrar, Mrs. Modupe Theresa Fawale.
According to the statement, the decision of the institution to gather it’s experts to produce world-class sanitizers for public use is based on “the apparent scarcity of standard hand sanitizers coupled with production by quacks.
It noted that being a leading Polytechnic situated in a city with a very large population and a state larger than two or three states, the onus is on the institution to look for ways and means to make contributions to the State at its hour of need.
The management also announced that the product is already available at the Institution’s Vocational Skill and Entrepreneurship Study Centre(VSESC) where the production of the hand sanitizers was coordinated as well some pharmaceutical Centres in Ibadan.
The registrar stressed further that efforts will be made to register the sanitizers with the National Agency for Food, Drug, Administration, and Control(NAFDAC). Adding that, the current production was an intervention to save lives.
“Some of the sanitizers had been presented to some senior government functionaries who also made the purchase and distributed in their constituencies,” the statement read.
The production of sanitizers is part of steps by various organizations, institutions, and individuals to support the effort of the government in the fight against coronavirus.
At the time of writing this report, the total number of confirmed cases by the NCDC in the country is now 214 with four deaths.
The index case in Oyo – the pacesetter State is now Nine.
