Lecturers at the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, EACOED, Oyo, under the aegis of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU, has joined forces with the state government in the fight against the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic that is ravaging the whole world.
This, they are doing, by engaging in public enlightment campaign for the use of face masks, social distancing and regular hand washing by members of the public and donations of COEASU branded face masks to members of different artisan groups through their leaderships.
The donations are in line with the benevolent posture of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde in donating palliative items to members of the general public.
The union through her executive committee led by its chairman, Com. Oyewumi Olusegun, visited different artisan secretariats within the three local government areas in Oyo metropolis
The councils included Atiba, Oyo East and Oyo West LGs.
During the artisans’ weekly meetings where social distancing was being observed, the artisans were further enlightened on the needs to observe all government directives in curtailing the spread of the pandemic and donate the face masks.
The union’s visits to different artisan groups have been on for the past three weeks. The groups visited thus far include mechanics, Okada riders and automobile wiring workers and vulcanizers among others.
The leaders of the artisan groups in their separate reactions thanked COEASU for the donations, promising to continue to abide by all government regulations on stemming the tide of COVID-19 in the State.
