The statement read: “The attention of the State Government of Osun has been called to a message making the rounds, falsely claiming that Professor Isaac Adewole, a former Vice Chancellor of the Univeristy of Ibadan and former Minister of Health of the

Federal Republic of Nigeria, who also serves as a member of the Osun State Task Force for COVID-19, has tested positive for the disease.

“This information is FALSE. Professor Isaac Adewole has undergone the test for COVID-19 twice, and the results have returned negative at both instances.

“Members of the Osun State Task Force for COVID-19, while providing essential services during this critical period, have ensured precautionary measures in the discharge of their duties, and have been under the close monitoring of the State. No member of the Committee, regardless of status, would have been allowed to continue working by the State Government, had they been suspected or confirmed to have been infected with the disease.”

The Government of the state also called on its citizens to disregard the misinformation and desist from transmitting “fake news” that can cause panic in the community.
