The Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji has been restrained  from installing another Mogaji for Jagun Elesin Merindinlogun compound to replace the substantive Mogaji Joseph Oluwole Olatubosun.

A writ of summon issued by the claimants’ lawyer,  Biola Ladapo Esq and Temitope Iyanda of Biola Ladapo & Co legal practitioners and approved by Oyo state High Courts has been served to that effect

The claimants Mogaji Joseph Oluwole Olatubosun,  Mr Yisau Babajide Sadiku Ogundapo and Mr Muka Odunola Bello prayed for an interlocutory injuction restraining the defendant, Oba Adetunji from Installing  Mr Kayode Taiwo Alaka Opayinka as the mogaji of Jagun Elesin Merindinlogun family of Kosodo area Ibadan.

The claimant also prayed that the court restrains Kayode Taiwo Opayinka from “parading himself, or authorizing or encouraging or allowing any publication causing himself to be  addressed as  the Mogaji Opayinka.”

In an affidavit filed to support the motion, Mogaji Olatunbosun of the Ogundiran Olatubosun Ruling section claims that he was appointed as Mogaji Jagun Elesin Merindinlogun family on 23rd of October 2017 by Oba Adetunji.

He also claimed that the purported selection or appointment of Opayinka of Jagun Elesin Merindinlogun  family, Kosodo Area, Ibadan Oyo state by Olubadan is irregular and a violation of law, custom tradition and history of Ibadanland. it is therefore unconstitutional, ilega, arbitrary  discriminatory, null  void and of no effect whatsoever.

After seeking for an order restraining Olubadan from installing  Alaka Opayinka as Mogaji Opayinka Kosodo, the claimant said ” if the  Ist defendant is not restrained , whatever the judgement of the honourable court enters on the suits will be rendered nugatory in view of the facts presented

While speaking with OYO INSIGHT, Jagun Olatubosun said Taiwo Alaka Opayinka is a customary tenant of Jagun Elesin Merindinlogun under the pretence of Opayinka Kosodo which fall in the same compound with Jagun Elesin merindinlogun in Kosodo

He alleged that the installation will amount to having two Mogajis in the same compound. “His generation has never been mogaji at the compound…”

” I also heard that some businessmen who are Ibadan indigenes are also in support of  this man to alter the history, tradition  and culture of  the land.” he said

  1. In fact it is a disdainful event, in lbadan a city that is known for honour to be involved in this kind of things, where are the investigators ofOlubadan whose duty is to search and investigate family compound when there is need for that. Well my adivice is that Olubadan should abstain from this so that he remains in his honour. Kabiyesi Pls watch out .

  2. Although, not knowing much about their compound issues but having two Magajis near it’s other that one doesn’t be barrier but development of the said compounds is the matter most forget about history, omo ibadan ni gbogbo WA, U can come settled first, somebody came later or U are landlord, let us put hands together to develop our compounds.
