Court Remands 4 Juvennile, 2 Women, 11 Others Over Idi-Arere Mayhem

An Ibadan magistrate court 2 has remanded 17 person arrested for allegedly masterminding ‎the mayhem that recently erupted in some parts of Ibadan

The accused persons had been arrested by the police for allegedly participating  in the ‎burning and vandalism of some shops and houses along Idi–Arere and Molete road in the heart of Ibadan on January 3,2019

The accused were arraigned before magistrate Oladele Adisa on a three count charge of conspiracy, arson ‎and stealing

With charge no: mi/91c/2009, their pleas were not taken.

The accused persons who comprised of two women, four minors and 11 others were Adesola Bukola, (38), Ayobami Os‎uolale (37), Olayode Lateef (21), Farouk Adedolapo (16),Samson Ayomide (20), Dada Kayode(25), Taye Popoola (20), Kudus Ibrahim (14)  Olatunji Samuel (19)

Others included; Adewale Malik (14), Sakura Adegoke, (25) Toheeb Abiodun‎(24), Sunmonu Kudus (25) ,Azeez Salau,(24) Akande Saheed (15),Ojekunle Lekan (19)and Sadiq Tirimisiyu (19)

The prosecutor, Mrs. Bola Oloko, told the court that ‎the accused persons and others now at large conspired among themselves to commit arson and stealing

Oloko further explained that the accused ‎and others now at large did unlawfully set fire to houses and shops valued at forty million Naira (N40,000,000,.00)

According to her she said they stole Plasma TV sets, Tailoring materials, phones propeeties of Tajudeen Ajiboye, Ibrahim Olasupo,Muritala Ibrahim, Mariam Jeje and Zainab Ba‎bayanju valued at Twenty-Five milion Naira (N25,000,000,.00)

The prosecutor said the offences contrary to and punishable under Section 516,443 ,383 and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol.II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.

In his ruling the Chief Magistrate Oladele Adisa ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prisons custody and the remaining 4 juvenile also re-arrainged in Juvenile court for proper remand in remand home

He thereafter adjourned the case till March, 8, 2019 for legal advice from Director of public prosecution (DPP).
