A former commissioner for works and transport, Dr. Yunus Akintunde, has donated bags of beans to ease the hardship occasioned by the deadly of coronavirus.
This is apart from the hand sanitizers, gloves, nose and face masks distributed by the Oyo-born politician across the state.
The distribution, OYOINSIGHT.COM learnt, started from Oyo, the former governorship aspirant’s hometown yesterday.
Speaking on why he decided to assist the people, especially the indigents, Akintunde said that it was borne out of the need to support the people especially as the state has been partially locked down.
“It is just so unfortunate that coronavirus pandemic is threatening our existence. However, it has happened. And as they are finding cure and managing situations, our people need to be lifted. And that is why I have, in my own little, way, decided to render this support.
“Though we pray this pandemic ends soon, I will like to urge all well-meaning individuals to assist our neighbours. Nothing is too small. We are happy that gradually, the recovery rate is something to be happy about. It is also important to advise that as we take to the guidelines on the deadly disease, we should continue to pray God to come to our aid,” the statement added.
