CORONAVIRUS: Nigeria’s Cases May Increase To 312 By Friday —UI Team Predicts

The committee on COVID-19 data analysis and management of Nigeria’s premier university, University of Ibadan, UI, has predicted that the number of confirmed cases in the country will be at least 312 by Friday, April 3.

The UI team, OYOINSIGHT.COM gathered, disclosed this in a graphical report shared by the school’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnership, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo on her social media page.

According to the report, the team said if the current trend continues,?the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria would hit 312 by Friday.

“Approximately 70.4 percent of those people currently infected with COVID-19 were initially exposed to the disease on day 12 of theoccurrence of the disease in Nigeria.

“The predictive model is an indication that the disease will continueto be on the increase in the days ahead and that time, in days,accounted for 89.0 percent of the variation in the cumulativeconfirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria.”  the explanatory note of the report read.

As at the time of writing this report, Nigeria has recorded 111 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

This shows an increase of 31 cases to the 70 confirmed cases as of 8 pm on Friday, March 27.

The index case in Oyo state is now seven making it the state withthe third-highest number of confirmed cases in the country afterLagos and Abuja.
