The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has announced that he will be the first person to undergo a coronavirus test in Ibadan – the Oyo State capital.
Makinde, who is the head of the coronavirus task force in the State, said this while replying to questions from the public during a tweet chat on Saturday afternoon.
“Once our testing centers in Ibadan are certified, I will be the first to test. So, this tweet chat is a way to still communicate with the people of Oyo State,” he said.
He stressed further that the state already has two testing centers awaiting from the NCDC, adding that the World Health Organization (WHO) has also been contacted regarding verification.
OYOINSIGHT.COM had earlier reported that the governor had gone into self-isolation based on the advice of the NCDC that governors who attended the NEC meeting should self-isolate and test because they all came in contact with a person who has now tested positive for the virus.
At the time of writing this report, the country had recorded 81 cases of the virus and one death. Three patients have recovered and have since been discharged from the hospital.
The index case in Oyo State is now three with no death recorded.
