There is confusion in the political circle in Oyo State has names of chieftains of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, appeared on the website of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday, as senatorial candidates of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP.

While Hon. Nureni Adisa, a former national secretary of Accord, wanted to fly the ADC flag in Oyo South senatorial district, Arc Bashiru Lawal is the Director General of Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin Campaign Organisation, SOLANCO, which has been renamed Handshake Campaign Organisation.

OYO INSIGHT learnt that the appearance of the two politicians on INEC website cannot be unconnected with former governor Rashidi Ladoja’s Defection from the ADC to ZLP.

This newspaper gathered that Ladoja, without consulting the duo and many others, had filled their names ZLP candidates.

The duo were said to have rejected the offer when they were told. They were however surprised when their names appeared on the commission’s website.

With the development, sources at INEC said, ZLP may not have candidates for Oyo North and South senatorial districts in the February 16, 2019 National Assembly election.

It has Hon. Aderemi Olaniyan as its candidate for Oyo Central senatorial district.
