The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) election fixed for Friday 14th April 2023 took another dimension as six out of the seven Board of Trustees Members submitted resignation letters while the seventh member who has relocated abroad gave a verbal consent.

The BOT members comprises notable, experienced and credible elders of Ibadanland namely; Justice Lambe Arasi (Chairman), Chief Bayo Alugbin (Vice Chairman), Alhaji B.A. Oladeji (member), Pastor J.A Adeniji JP (member), Dr Olubayo Adekola (member), Alh. R.A Adeoye (member), Chief (Mrs) Oluyoola Adeoye Adisa (member). The BOT serves as the Apex body recognized by the CCII constitution after the General Assembly.

The BOT members resignation is shocking and sad to those who have the interest of CCII at heart.
The collective resignation was consequent upon the undermining of the Office of the Board by holding of the CCII election outside the CCII Constitution and against the resolution of the Board. This was further aggravated by insults and insinuations on their respected persons from the aggrieved supporters of the disqualified party simply because the Board stands against the raping of the CCII constitution. They opined that since a candidate and his camp, with the help of some past Presidents-General do not have respect for the Constitution anymore, they have no reason to remain as BOT members.

The CCII election has witnessed series of issues which includes the controversial recall of the Secretary General Akogun Segun Obe by his club, Oluyole Social Elite over which he is the current President.

It was assumed that Akogun segun Obe ( former? CCII Secretary General) was recalled to pave way for the candidate from his club after he refused to succumb to pressure to resign, albeit too late, when it dawned on his Club, Oluyole Social Elite, that it has contravened the constitution of CCII which rules against a constituent club having 2 members to serve in the same EXCO.

It was also said that Oluyole Social Elite constitution says two-third of the Club members must sign any recalling letter of their sponsored Executive but only thirty-four signed the recall letter of Akogun Segun Obe out of eighty-one Members.

The BOT ruling fell on deaf ears, rather, they were abused and humiliated by the warring camp. That was said to trigger their unanimous resignation.

All eyes are on the election scheduled for Friday 14th April, 2023. The aftermath of the election remains unclear as the sacked Secretary General is on his way to Court to reclaim his mandate.
The descent to Anarchy must be arrested by all that care.
    God bless Ibadanland.
