Bye-election: Oyo APC Picks Late Speaker’s Brother

Ahead of the June 2, 2018 bye-election to fill the vacancy created by the death of former speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Barr. Adesina Michael Adeyemo, his younger brother, Kunle Adeyemo, has been picked to fly the flag of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Oyo Insight learnt that the leadership of the APC in the council area decided to pick the younger Adeyemo so as to complete the tenure of his brother and that of Lanlate. Lanlate has 4 wards while Eruwa is said to have 6 wards.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had slated the bye-election to fill the vacant seat of the constituency for Saturday, June 2, 20127.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Oyo State, Mutiu Agboke, disclosed this in Ibadan last Tuesday, during a press briefing at the state headquarters of the commission.

The seat became vacant following the death of the immediate past speaker of the House, Michael Adeyemo, on Friday, April 2

The REC said political parties interested in fielding candidates for the election must conduct their primaries between today and Saturday 19, May, just as he assured voters in the area of conducting a credible election.
