As a way of addressing agitations by students of Oyo State origin over non-payment of bursary and scholarship by state government, Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s special assistant on students affairs, Comrade Hassan Fatima Titilayo last week met the leadership of the Federation of Oyo State Students Union, FOSSU.
FOSSU, OYO INSIGHT learnt, had proposed a 10-day demonstration to demand for the payment of bursary and award of scholarship by the state government.
While advisjnthem to the meeting, Fatima explained that his boss has achieved more than his predecessors especially in the areas of education, adding that “the governor recently increased subventions to tertiary institutions in the state
Officials of the state scholarship board who were at the meeting said all papers are ready but the governor is going through it.
Fatima later led the students’ leadership to the office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Gbade Ojo, who asked them to come up with data of eligible beneficiaries and registered members of their various associations. This, Fatima said, is to ensure government doesn’t pay ghost workers.
FOSSU President, Azeez Sharafadeen would later thank Fatima for the meeting, saying he would get back to her.
