BREAKING: Makinde’s Security Aide Kabiru Salami Resigns From Cabinet

Hon. Kabiru Salami, Executive Assistant to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Security Coordination, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.

Salami announced his resignation in a letter dated October 20, 2026, addressed to the governor through the Chief of Staff.

In the letter, Salami expressed gratitude to Makinde for the opportunity to serve, describing his time in the administration as an honour and a humbling experience.

He said he remained committed to the peace, security and progress of Oyo State despite his decision to leave the position.

Salami’s resignation adds to the recent departures from Makinde’s cabinet and political circle, following the resignation of appointees.

Other recent exits from the governor’s administration include Segun Ogunwuyi, who resigned as Chief of Staff with effect from October 12, 2026, and Tara Adefope, who stepped down as Director-General of the Oyo State Due Process Office.

Makinde had appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as Ogunwuyi’s replacement, while Aderonke Adedayo was appointed to head the Due Process Office, retaining her role as Senior Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies.

Salami’s resignation comes amid the latest changes in the governor’s administration.
