The immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi is dead, Sahara Reporters reports.
Ajimobi, who until his death was the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC died after a prolonged battle with COVID-19 which was worsened by underlying health conditions.
Ajimobi had earlier been reported dead by various media houses less than three days after he was appointed to serve as the acting National Chairman of the APC.
His media aide, Bolaji Tunji, however, disputed this.
- Ajimobi, a two-term Governor once represented Oyo South senatorial district at the Senate.
He served as the Deputy Minority leader of the Senate between 2003 and 2007.
