For the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, Ibadan-born investor and philantropist, Chief Dotun Sanusi, would have been installed as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland.
This declaration, Hazeez Ayansola who is corporate affairs and media manager of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort confirmed, was made by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, during a birthday reception organized for Sanusi who paid him a courtesy visit.
Oba Ogunwusi in his welcome address described Sanusi as someone who shares several qualities with him beside being birthday mates adding that considering the activities of Chief Sanusi towards community and humanitarian development in Oyo State, the Mogaji of Olugbade family would be installed as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland as soon as Corona Virus pandemic is over.
Sanusi had on Saturday left Ibadan with some of his friends, government functionaries, business associates to felicitate with Ooni of Ife at his palace in Ile-Ife.
Oba Ogunwusi, who paid similar visit to Sanusi last year treated Chief Sanusi and his people to sumptuous meals and light entertainment.
Sanusi after the exchange of gifts between himself and the monarch left Ile-Ife for Ibadan where dignitaries were already patiently waiting for him.
Sanusi, chairman/CEO, Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, TNL, Ilaji Farms and ICAST (Institute of College of Arts, Science and Technology), has in the past couple of years become a succour of sort for the people of Ona-Ara Local Government in particular and Ibadan as well as Oyo State general.
Thus, when the occasion of the birthday of the Mogaji of Olugbade Compound, Oja’ba, Ibadan came up yesterday, beneficiaries of Chief Sanusi’s kindheartedness and Philanthropic gestures stormed Olugbade Hall of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, the venue of the birthday reception to show their appreciations.
The birthday, a 3-day event, began on Friday with Special Jumat Service at the Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort’s Mosque.
The special Jumat service was quickly followed by a special reception organized by Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide in his honour and a novelty match between Ilaji Football Club and Governor Seyi Makinde selected players tagged GSM team.
At the banquet reception, Sanusi hosted people from various walks of life which include; traditional rulers, top government functionaries, captains of industry, oil and gas magnates, business partners, politicians, youths, physically challenge persons, socialites, family members and friends.
The programme of events was altered to accomodate presentation of awards from individuals, groups and corporate bodies as well as installation as grand patron of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and Chief War Marshal of Man ‘O’ War.
