Basorun Ojoo High School @ 40: Alumni Renovate Block Of classrooms, Pledge Multi-purpose Hall

The students of Basorun Ojoo High School, Ibadan, on Saturday, celebrated its 40th Anniversary, as its alumni, under the aegis of Basorun Ojoo High School Old Students’s Association (BOOSA), renovated blocks of five classrooms.

Among the things provided by the alumni were laboratory equipments, COVID-19 relief packages for both staff and students, eye screening test for both staff students, flooring of the frontage of Blocks A and B, laboratory stools and renovation of some doors.
They equally gave the school a beautiful look by painting blocks of classrooms among other things that were done.

The occasion, which was the first of its kind and organised by BOOSA, attracted members from different fields of endeavours across states of Nigeria and other parts of the world, including the United Kingdom and the United States.

The celebration brought back fond memories as the alumni reunited with their former teachers, while old students used the opportunity to remind the present students of the school’s history, as well as their primary responsibilities as students.

At the event, projects commissioning by BOOSA were five classrooms and the launching of proposed Multi-Purpose Hall for Basorun Ojoo High School, Ashi, Ibadan.

Speaking earlier at the event, the current principal of the School, Mrs.Olawoyiwola Imat, appreciated the old students for assisting the School with a lot of physical projects such as renovation of classrooms and others.
She explained that anniversaries are opportunities for recollections of the years gone by positive reflections for the years ahead.

She hinted that Basorun Ojoo High is rated academically and morally as one of the best and most cultured in this part of the country.

According to her: “Basorun Ojoo High School is rated academically and morally as one of the best schools and most cultured in this part of the country. If given the needed conducive environment and required resources together with experienced and diligent staff, the students have the potentials of further climbing the ladder of greatness for all round growth.

“Alumni body create a special bonding between the school and those who have passed out and have established themselves in the outside world. I perceive that this anniversary celebration is an avenue to meet and, of course, revive the bond of togetherness, which will promote the spirit of unity for the upliftment of the school.

“I will like to commend you all for your keen interest in your alma-mata and for making this day a reality. At this point, I must pay glowing tribute to all the members of staff and students for their unending support and sacrifice. May we live to eat and enjoy the fruits of our labour. I pray that God shall continue to strengthen you. Moreover, I use this medium to welcome our well-wishers to this great occasion,” She said.
She however appreciated the staff and students for showing dedication, commitment and kind gestures from time to time towards the development of the school.

Also speaking at the event, the pioneer Teacher of the School who doubled as the Chairman of the program, Mr. Sodipe, thanked God for making the day’s event a reality.

He thanked God for uplifting his students to greater heights.

He urged the current students to emulate their seniors in taking their academic pursuit serious, so as to be great in future.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Arc.Abdul Lateef Mojolagbe, while speaking on the event, said: “We felt it was time to give back to humanity. We chose the 40th anniversary to round off some projects in the school which you have seen. We are still planning some other things in the future. We are going to renovate the school. In conjunction with the government, we will make the school better.”

In a related development, different sets pledged to donate handsomely to the construction of the proposed Multi- Hall of the School.
