Ayoka Foundation, a non-governmental organization, named after the mother of the founder and chairman AVM Chief (Dr) JB Adigun (rtd), the Akọgun of Ògbómòsóland, has empowered 60 indigenes of the ancient town.
The Chief Operating Officer, COO, of the organization, Olusegun Aremu (ASK) made this known in a statement on Wednesday.
According to him, “Ayoka Foundation rolled out a comprehensive 3-day indoor training on farming of mushrooms, bee honey, rabbits and snails.
“At the end of the programme, start-up capital was given to 60 participants who came from across the five local government areas of Ògbómòsó zone,” he revealed.
Aremu, who spoke on behalf of the founder, said “the empowerment programme was rolled out to appreciate God for giving Ogbomoso a brand new king Kabiyesi, His Imperial Majesty, Ọba Ghandi Afolabi Laoye, Orumogege IIi, Soun of Ogbomoland, after waiting for almost two years. The empowerment is to support our Kabiyesi’s vision for Ògbómòsóland.
He promised that the foundation would monitor all the beneficiaries so as to ensure they utilize the funds for the purpose for which it is meant.
Ayoka Foundation was set up with the responsibility of helping the less-privileged in the society. Since inception, it has reached out to many elderly, widows, widowers, orphans and less-privileged in the society.
