Mr. Governor,
1. We, the members of the Yoruba Isese Renaissance Movement, present our compliments to Your Excellency. May Eledumare grant you a successful tenure of office Àse!
2. Your Excellency, we are writing to lend our voice to the widely circulated demands of the Concerned Youths of Sasa in their letter to the Olubadan of Ibadanland. It is our belief that you or your aides must have seen the contents of the letter which was written on the need to prevent the establishment of an Hausa-Fulani ruling dynasty in Ibadanland.
3. As a corollary to the above, we also request that you cause the Attorney-General as well as the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to immediately set machineries in motion to effect the total abrogation of the illegal titles of Sarkin & Eze N’digbo in Oyo State.
4. We wish to remind Your Excellency that you swore to uphold the constitution and the law on your inauguration.
5. While the Constitution provides for freedom of association, we are of the firm view that such freedom, cannot by any stretch of imagination, extend to the illegal appropriation of chieftaincy titles under the guise of ethnic groupings.
6. We are not unaware of the fact that the The Chiefs Law of Oyo State criminalizes arbitrary usage of beaded crowns without approval and parading of oneself as traditional ruler without any formal instrument of office from government.
7. Information in the public domain indicates that most of these so-called “Sarkin & Eze N’digbo” have been found to be creating parallel authorities in their places of abode in contempt of the Oba and Baale of their host communities. Your Excellency will readily recall the Sarkin Fulani Igangan who was accused of sponsoring unscrupulous elements in that community.
8. We also wish to point out to Your Excellency that even the Council of Southeast Traditional Rulers has recently called for the abrogation of these Eze N’digbo Titles.
9. While we acknowledge the warm and liberal nature of our people in Oyo State, we wish to inform Your Excellency that contemptuous acts of some unscrupulous holders of illegal chieftaincy titles should no longer be tolerated.
10. Mr Governor, abrogate the illegal titles of Sarkin and Eze N’digbo now
