A chieftain of APC in Oyo State, Hon. Akinjide Kazeem Akinola has congratulated the party and candidate, Hon. Ibrahim Shittu on the recent victory secured in the Saki West State Constituency Re-run Election.
Akinola, while expressing his joy over the announcement of the Re-run Election results, hailed all stakeholders involved with the electoral victory for both our party and her candidate, Ibrahim Shittu.
It should be noted that the rerun, held in two polling units of the state constituency became necessary in reference to the judgment of the election tribunal as delivered.
In the said judgment, the tribunal ruled that over 1,000 voters were disenfranchised in the first ballot held during the February 2023 general elections, and upheld by the Appeal Court.
Thus, the election petition tribunal sacked Shittu and ordered for a re-run election in the two polling units affected.
Speaking further, Akinola said “the results, even though it was in two polling units, is a testament to the grassroots acceptability of our candidate and the party while not in power at the state level.”
“I must confess that the unification of the stakeholders and members of the party is important. It is through a united house like this that we can move mountains and restore APC back to Government in the state.”
“The election is a litmus test, and Alhamdulilah, we passed the test. We should advance to another stage of ‘our party spirit’ and use the spirit to prove further points in the coming local government elections in the state.”
“Kudos to all actors and stakeholders who played one role or the other in ensuring this victory for our party.”
