Dayo Ogungbenro, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, has said his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ajiboye Omodewu, is his brother.
OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that both Ogungbenro and Omodewu hail from Otu, headquarters of Itesiwaju local government.
Ogungbenro spoke yesterday while fielding questions from Aanuoluwapo Omorinde on BOTTOM LINE – a political programme on IBR 92.5fm Ibadan.
On whether the PDP in Oyo State is ready for a virile opposition now that the APC has a functional Exco, Ogungbenro said there is nothing to be worried about adding that the APC is on a voyage in Oyo State and it’s not likely to return before 2027.
According to him, “I openly congratulated the new APC Chairman yesterday on his appointment in the spirit of sportsmanship. Omodewu is my brother, I am from Otu and he is also from Otu but when we get to the field, we shall all see the difference. With the performance of my amiable governor in all sectors, I wonder what the APC will campaign with in 2023″.
Reacting to a prediction that Governor Seyi Makinde nay the PDP may need a coalition to win in 2023, Ogungbenro said “you know as a political party we can’t stop people from coming to our party but with the performance of Governor Seyi Makinde, there is no cause for alarm”.
He described Oyo State under Seyi Makinde as a model where good governance can be learnt.
He cautioned the opposition against peddling rumour about the PDP sponsoring thugs.
