The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has told the Oyo State Governor-elect, Engr Seyi Makinde, to stop chasing shadows and prepare for the art of governance which will start on May 29, 2019, after the completion of the unprecedented second term in office of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

The party said that it expected Engr Makinde to be brainstorming and focus on how to further raise the bar of governance and deliver on his electoral promises instead of raising unfounded, malicious and mischievous allegations of emptying the Oyo State treasury by his spokesperson.

The Party’s Publicity Secretary, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde, stated that the mandate of Governor Ajimobi will not lapse until 12 midnight on May 28, 2019, and he is expected to perform his responsibilities as the governor of the State accordingly, adding that Engr Makinde should wait for his turn to govern the state at which time, he is at liberty to scrutinise the finances of the State.

Olatunde said that the party would have ignored the rantings of the spokesperson of Engr Makinde but for the sake of the general public who will be misled with the inflammatory and alarmist remarks, saying that opposition should be based on facts and issues and not mudslinging and character assassination for which the spokesperson of the Governor-elect has a track record.

He said that the vituperations credited to Makinde clearly show that the incoming team lacks a good grasp of core governance issues especially a simple one as the commencement and expiration of an administration. The APC spokesperson advised the incoming PDP Governor to devote more time to focus on learning the art of Governance for which he is obviously ill-equipped judging by his current focal point.

The APC spokesman said that the party was surprised that the governor-elect, did not deem it fit to visit the Sogoye Area of Ibadan, the venue of the collapsed building at the weekend, noting that if such an incident occurred before the elections, he would have been one of the early callers to the site.

This, Dr Olatunde opined was a demonstration of the true nature of the party and its candidate, emphasizing that it was a pointer to things to come in the State wondering if the romance between the people and Engr Makinde has suddenly ended with his electoral victory.
