Amidst the nationwide campaign against rape in the country, Bello Mubarak, a first year student of the Institute Of Agriculture , Research and Training, IAR&T, has reportedly been killed after refusing to be raped in Ibadan.
Eighteen-year old Barakat, OYOINSIGHT.COM understands, was killed after some unidentified assailants attacked her residence at Oluyole area in Ibadan after resisting attempts to rape her.
One Mr. Tunji Olatunji, who reported the occurrence on his Facebook page, wrote,”Bello Mubarak has fallen too. A student of IRA&T Oluyole, Ìbàdàn. I gathered their home was attacked yesterday afternoon by supposed robbers who tried to finish on a romp.
“Mubarak resisted their attempt to rape her and she was stabbed to death. We hope and pray that the perpetrators of this evil will be fished out.”
He added that girls are now more endangered and the society must do something to curb this negative trend.
In their reaction to the occurrence, the National Association of Nigerian Students, Zone D, in a photographic statement signed by it’s Coordinator, Comrade Samuel Olawale described the occurrence as an injustice to all.
The association also demanded justice for the deceased student.
