Akinola Begins Mobilisation for Tinubu, Leads PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Oyo
The Oyo State chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement has received a boost ahead of the 2027 general elections following the donation of 32 campaign vehicles by Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, to support grassroots mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The donation was announced during the inauguration of the movement’s Oyo State chapter at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, formerly known as Liberty Stadium, in Ibadan. The event brought together party leaders and stakeholders to discuss mobilisation efforts for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and other APC candidates in 2027.
Oyo State Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement and who is also doubled as the President Bola Tinubu Presidential Campaign Deputy Director Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation, Akinola Kazeem, expressed confidence that Oyo state would deliver more votes for President Tinubu in 2027 than it did in the previous presidential election. He further called on members of the movement and party supporters to intensify their efforts towards achieving the target.
“Oyo State gave President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the highest vote in the South-West in 2023. We will give the President the highest vote in Nigeria in 2027. Let us work hard to achieve this,” Akinola said.
Akinola added that “the 32 vehicles are equipped with a sound system with two big stickers and generators for the Door-to-Door movement for the campaign for President Bola Tinubu re-election.”
Also speaking at the much attended rally is the representative of Tompolo at the event, Chief Kestin Pondi who said the 32 vehicles were donated to facilitate the movement’s mobilisation activities and strengthen its engagement with voters across Oyo State.
The donation is expected to provide logistical support for the movement’s activities as political preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At the event, the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, pledged to grant autonomy to local governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) from May 29, 2027, if elected governor.
Alli’s pledge placed local government autonomy among the key governance issues highlighted at the gathering.
Other notable figures at the event included Sunday Adekanbi Asuku, coordinator of the movement, and Dr. Joshua Oyebanji, APC Central Senatorial Chairman, alongside Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete, few of Oyo state House of Representatives candidates, notably, Tolulope Akande Sadipe of Oluyole Federal Constituency, Hon. Folake Oshinowo-Olunloyo of Ibadan South West/North West Federal Constituency and many others.
The inauguration and donation of the vehicles form part of the movement’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with the group seeking to expand its grassroots presence and coordinate door-to-door engagement in support of President Tinubu’s re-election bid and other APC candidates across Oyo State.
The movement’s mobilisation efforts also come amid broader engagements by the Presidential Campaign Council, led by its Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, with traditional institutions in Oyo State. The council’s visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Alaafin of Oyo formed part of its engagements with traditional rulers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
