Akilapa To Deliver Bodija Estate Muslim Community Ramadan Lecture

    Sheikh Khalifah Qoasim Akilapa will tomorrow 9th April deliver the 3rd of the four lecture series of 2023 Ramadan programme of the Bodija Estate & Environs Muslim Community, BEEMC.

    Billed for the Islamic Centre, opposite the headquarters of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, Old Bodija Ibadan, Akilapa will be speaking Rights & Duties of Parents over their Children. It is going to be hosted by Alhaji & Alhaja Odeyemi while the chairman is Dr. Adesola Adeduntan of First Bank.

    During the first lecture which held on the first Sunday of the Ramadan, Dr. Magaji Haashim Atere, an Islamic scholar, delivered a lecture entitled religion, politics and democracy. The scholar, who enjoined Muslims to participate in electioneering process, said it allows Muslims to take part in decision making that affects them and others.

    Only last Sunday, the second in the Holy Month,  Sheikh Khalifah Muideen Ibrahim Ayede spoke on a ocial justice: Islamic perspective. Saying that equity and equality are important in Islam, Ayede urged everyone not to partial in the distribution of social justice. He added that failure to adhere to what the Holy books say about social justice would tend towards anarchy.

    Speaking on the remaining lectures, Aare Isiaka Olagunju, SAN, who is BEEMC vice-chairman and the coordinator for the 2023 Ramadan Committee thanked those who have attended and contributed to the success of the programmes, adding that “the community, just like it has always been doing, decided to bring together programme again this year. We are building on the successes of the previous editions. It is going to be worth it.

    “We enjoin everyone from near and far to attend the programme. And we pray Allah (SWT), will accept it as an act of Ibadah,” the former secretary of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, added.

    Speaking further, Olagunju, who is the chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, said “we are glad with the success of the programme so far. And we hope to build on it for the next editions. We are grateful to everyone, not leaving anybody out. Allah will reward us all bountifully.”
