I received the news of the demise of Sen. Abiola Ajimobi with a rude shock.  He departed when the society needs him most as a mentor for the next generation. He was not only creative but a very assertive leader, teacher and excellent community organiser. He did numerous things and made mistakes like every human being. Younger people would have learned a lot from his wealth of leadership experience.

Sen. Ajimobi was a renown leader who builds strong relationships with his people based on the general needs of civic and community life. I worked with him before he became a Governor in 2011. He was a great listener and someone who is always hungry for knowledge. Ajimobi works with people to define problems and issues and help them think through the strategies and tactics necessary to act with confidence and win. He is always quick to say sorry when erred. Like Late M.K.O Abiola, Sen. Ajimobi speaks Yoruba fluently, and he can hardly make a conversation without supporting it with Yoruba proverbs to buttress his analogy.

He was a great man, incredible intellect, a great soul of matchless courage, one of the great Ibadan men who led his people as Governor for eight years. With this, I pay a tribute of love and respect to Distinguished Sen. Abiola Ajimobi because he used his power for the good of his people.

We know that “legends never die in our dreams because they will always live within our hearts.” Rest in Peace.
