Popular hip-hop star, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has announced that he is now in Self-isolation over the novel coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement on his official Instagram account on March 24, 2020, he wrote, “Isolation don turn me to bricklayer, been on one hour no progress”
The decision of the popular music star is in line with a Public Health Advisory To Nigerians on Coronavirus Disease statement by the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control dated the 15th of March 2019, that ” travelers from countries with widespread community transmission must undergo secondary screening at the point of entry,self-isolate for 14 days after arrival and be followed up by NCDC and Port Health Services”
Investigations by OYOINSIGHT.COM revealed that Davido recently returned from a foreign trip where he canceled and posted his performance. Hence, he is supposed to be in isolation.
However, the Ede-born musician did not self-isolate immediately after he returned because he was in Ibadan – the capital of Oyo State, where he performed at three public events and even visited Governor Seyi Makinde.
The paper also reported how Stone Café said on its Instagram page at about 10:42 p.m. that Davido and his crew arrived at the club, although the information now seemed to have been taken down.
Dozens of people turned up at all the events where the artist performed which is also a disregard for the directive of the government that a gathering of more than 50 people is prohibited to prevent the spread of a virus that has killed more than 15,000 people globally.
