Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Hosts NBTE Team For Crucial Accreditation Exercise

Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa (AOPE), today, March 7, 2025, hosted a team from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for an accreditation exercise, the second of such visit in two years. This process is crucial for ensuring that the institution’s programs meet national educational standards.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Gbade Akinteye, the Acting Rector of AOPE, highlighted the significance of the accreditation. He expressed gratitude to the NBTE executive board for facilitating the exercise and acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Fatimah Kabir, Director of Polytechnic Programs, in coordinating the visit despite challenges. Dr. Akinteye also extended his appreciation to all resource persons involved.

Representing the institution’s Governing Council, Elder Johnson Oladele welcomed the NBTE team and thanked the staff for their dedication in preparing for the event. He apologized for the absence of other council members.

Dr. Fatimah Kabir, NBTE Director of Polytechnic Programs, thanked the Management for working towards ensuring the accreditation exercise is put into place. She also extended her appreciation to the Oyo State government for its support in facilitating the accreditation. She outlined the team’s mission and encouraged the institution to provide the necessary resources to ensure a successful evaluation.

Dr. John Onyebuchi, representing Elder Ayo Aroge, Director of the South West Zone, noted that physical accreditations would cease by March 31, 2025, emphasizing the need for AOPE to establish a National Skills Qualification (NSQ) center to benefit students, staff, and external stakeholders.

Following the opening session, department heads accompanied the NBTE team to their respective areas to commence the accreditation process.

Other notable attendees included Mr. Akande Bamidele, representing the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, and NBTE staff responsible for accrediting various courses.
