Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Prof. Adeolu Akande, has commended the appointment of Rear Admiral Gambo Awwal Zubairu, as Nigeria’s new Naval Chief.
This was just as Akande, who is the director at the Centre for Presidential Studies, at the Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, congratulated the management, staff, students and alumni of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, over the appointment of Zubairu, who is one of their own.
According to him, the appointment could not have come at a better time.
Zubairu, it would be recalled, holds a master’s degree in transport management from LAUTECH.
“While I congratulate alumni of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, for the appointment of one of their own in that sensitive position, I like to urge Rear Admiral Zubairu and other new service chiefs to work towards ensuring continued peace within and outside the territory of the country.
”It is a plus for LAUTECH in its bid to take its rightful position among universities. Remember LAUTECH, before it became troubled, was not only one of the best, it was the number state university in the country. Rear Admiral Zubairu’s appointment will be useful in the bid to reposition the university. While I urge him to deploy his wealth of experience in finding lasting solution to the insecurity bedeviling our country, I like to advise the management and alumni of the university to find a way to factoring him in the rebuilding process,” Akande added.
