Immediate past gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has tasked governor-elect, Mr Seyi Makinde to particularly focus on sustaining as well as surpassing the feat of the outgoing Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s feat in peace and security.
According to Adelabu, Ajimobi’s achievements in the state, in terms of ensuring peace, was unequalled in the history of the state, evidenced by the low level of crime, major robbery incidents compared to past years and booming nightlife.
While asking security agencies to accord the Makinde administration the same support given the Ajimobi administration, Adelabu said Makinde failing to sustain Ajimobi’s legacy of peace and security will amount to taking the state back to its glory days.
Adelabu’s admonition came at the instance of the Oyo state security trust fund (OYSSTF), which he chairs, handing over ten patrol vans to the state Joint Security Task Force, “Operation Burst” and fire fighting kits to the state’s fire service.
At the event held at OYSSTF office, Ibadan, Adelabu stressed that the donation was to enhance security, hasten security agencies’ response time to crime and other emergencies.
He also urged the benefitting security agencies to maintain the vehicles and use them only for the purpose of crime fighting that they were purchased for.
This is as he urged residents to help boost the efficiency of security agencies by providing information.
As labelled, the ten patrol vehicles will cover the five major zones of the state viz Challenge, Ojoo, Iwo Road, Apata, Ibadan Central in Ibadan; Kishi and Iseyin in Oke-Ogun; while one vehicle each was donated to Eruwa, Ibarapa; Ogbomoso and Oyo.
Other items donated to Operation Burst are bulletproof vests, fire ballistic helmet, anti-riot tempered plastic shield, pepper spray.
Equipment handed over to the fire service included hoses, chemical drums, hand control branch, fire protective clothing, cock helmets and rubber boots.
