In his congratulatory message, Hon. Ojerinde noted that Adelabu has raised the bar of excellence.

He wrote: “There are only few individuals born into a family with an influential background and a name that can open doors yet set out to achieve success on their own without trying to cross any hurdle along the line with their influence, one of those individuals is Chief Adebayo Abdulwaheed Adekola Adelabu.

“As a student at Ife, you set out to become one of the best, graduating with a first class in accounting. Your drive for excellence stood you out at First Bank where you rose to become a Managing Director before joining the Central Bank as the Deputy Governor (operations).

“During the 2019 guber race in Oyo State, you ran a campaign that dazzled young people like me who see you as a boss and brother. The passion you have for the development of our dear state is unprecedented.

“Even though you were convinced you would emerge victorious at the polls, the way you handled your defeat is something I still find amazing and I hope I can one day replicate.

“After losing that election, many people thought it would be the beginning of your gradual exit from politics but no! you have embarked on a mission to reposition yourself to fill the seat at Agodi come 2023.

“Anytime I listen to you (in private and public discussions) talk about the solution to the moribund economic and infrastructural state of our State, I wonder how just one man can dedicate so much time and energy to identify the problems of a society and how to make it experience true development.

“Despite the fact that you lost, you have continued to support me – and many others – in various ways just to ensure I represent the interest of my constituents and impact their lives positively.

“As I set out to pen this piece for your 50th birthday, I look at the many great things you have achieved in life and I wonder how you have managed to do this in just five decades. Truly, you have raised the bar of excellence.”
