Oyo APC Reps Aspirants Dismiss Defection Rumours, Pledge Support For Tinubu, Alli, Oseni, Others
The Coalition of Concerned House of Representatives Aspirants in Oyo State has dismissed rumours that opposition parties are wooing its members, reaffirming its loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The coalition also declared its continued support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, pledging to mobilise grassroots support for the party and its candidates.
The clarification followed separate visits by coalition representatives to Engr. Remi Oseni on Tuesday, October 13, and Senator Sharafadeen Alli on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
The meetings provided an opportunity for the aspirants to reaffirm their commitment to the APC and discuss concerns surrounding the selection of House of Representatives candidates in Oyo State.
The coalition said its grievances over candidate selection and the treatment of aspirants should not be interpreted as disloyalty or an indication that its members were preparing to defect.
Rather, it described its position as a call for fairness, inclusion, recognition and genuine reconciliation within the party.
According to the coalition, its members have invested time, resources and personal sacrifices in building the APC, strengthening its grassroots structures and mobilising support for the party.
It stressed that disagreements over internal party processes did not amount to an intention to join opposition parties, urging stakeholders and the public not to mistake calls for reconciliation for plans to defect.
The aspirants pledged to work with APC leaders and candidates, engage supporters across their constituencies and promote the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration ahead of the elections.
They also called for sustained dialogue among party leaders, candidates and aspirants to address outstanding concerns, rebuild confidence and strengthen unity within the APC.
The coalition said its objective was to promote a fairer and more inclusive party, not to weaken the APC or give its political opponents an advantage.
It urged members and supporters to remain calm and committed to constructive engagement while calling on party leaders to intensify efforts towards reconciliation ahead of the 2027 elections.
