Child-Trafficking: Oyo Police Rescue Four More Children, Reunite Them With Parents

The Oyo State Police Command has rescued four additional children allegedly stolen from their biological parents and sold at different times, bringing the number of children rescued in an ongoing investigation into a suspected child-stealing, human trafficking and baby factory syndicate to twenty-one.

The latest breakthrough followed fresh complaints from parents who recognised their missing children after the Command publicly disclosed the earlier rescue of seventeen children and the arrest of suspects.

Police said further interrogation of the principal suspect, AdeJoke Popoola, also known as Orente Alagbo, provided information that led investigators to the whereabouts of the additional victims.

Acting on the leads, police operatives travelled to Lagos State on September third, where three-year-old Taiwo Olamilekan was rescued in the Akoka area. Another child, Aleemi Omogoriola Okuleye, was subsequently rescued from Ikorodu on September eighth, before investigators extended their operation to Delta State.

The operation culminated in the rescue of two siblings, nine-year-old Adeyinka Ayomide and two-year-old Adeyinka Gold, from Agbor in Delta State on September fourteenth.

Police said the children were allegedly stolen from their parents in Ogun State and taken to Delta State.

Following necessary verification, the Command said the identities of the biological parents of all four children were established and the victims have since been reunited with their respective families.

Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, directed investigators to sustain the operation, identify other victims and unravel the full network behind the alleged criminal enterprise, while the Command urged parents of missing children to provide relevant information to assist the investigation.
