2027: Adelabu’s Loyalists Reaffirm APC Loyalty, Pledge To Deliver Candidates In Ibadan South East

Scores of All Progressives Congress, APC, members in Ibadan South East Local Government Area, who are supporters of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, have reaffirmed their commitment to the party and pledged to work for the victory of all its candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The party faithful, who visited the APC Oyo State Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, on Friday, urged the public to disregard reports circulating on social media suggesting that members of the Adelabu political group were planning to defect to the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.

They said the reports were particularly misleading given Adelabu’s own position that he remained a member of the APC.

Speaking on behalf of the group, its leader, Yusuf Bankole, described the reports as false, offensive and ill-motivated, insisting that Adelabu’s supporters in Ibadan South East remained firmly in the APC.

“Members of the general public should ignore fake news about all of us on the Adelabu Political Group joining APM. The rumour is not only false, it is also offensive, ill-motivated and condemnable,” Bankole said.

He added that the group had received the backing of some of its leaders, including Chief Wasiu Ajimobi and Hon. Kayode Fagunwa, to visit the party secretariat and publicly clarify its position.

“We are not considering any move away from our great party. We shall work assiduously with other party members to ensure victory for all the candidates of our party in the next polls,” he said.

Responding, the APC Oyo State Chairman and former Deputy Governor, Chief Moses Adeyemo, commended the group for coming forward to clarify its position, saying the party was now focused on reconciliation, recalibration and rebuilding its members’ commitment following the conclusion of the primaries.

Adeyemo appealed to APC members to embrace peace, love and unity, saying the party had commenced preparations to take its Renewed Hope Agenda to the electorate ahead of the 2027 elections.

“APC is the party to beat, and this explains why those who matter in the opposition parties are joining us every day,” he said, adding that the party’s goal was to win all elective positions in the 2027 elections.

Among the party leaders who led the delegation were Chief Lukman Ayantola, Alhaji Rasheed Agarawu, Catechist John Taiwo Ige, Alhaji Mojeed Agbaje, Mr Sunmbo Oladiti, Mrs Adeniyi Taiwo, Alhaji Ayodele Oseni and Alfa Meta.

The delegation was received by members of the Oyo APC Executive Committee, including Hon. Fatai Adesina, Barrister Sunday Aborisade, Hon. Tunde Elegbede and Hon. Olawale Sadare.
