Ambassador Shakirullah Jimoh Ora’nkan has been declared the winner of the ACCORD primary election conducted by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
Ambassador Ora’nkan was declared elected and returned as the ACCORD flag bearer for the Oyo Central Senatorial District in 2027 following pronuncement by the Returning Officer for the gubernatorial, House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senatorial primary elections of the party, Hon. Abdurahman Danladi Muhammad.
Hon. Muhammad, who is also the Deputy National Secretary of ACCORD, led the 3-man ACCORD National Working Committee for primary elections in Oyo State.
The declaration was made in the presence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), officials, security personnel, party delegates, leaders and stakeholders at the Islamic Primary School, Moniya, Ibadan.
Hon. Muhammad announced that Ambassador Ora’nkan polled a total of 73, 891 votes from delegates across the 11 local government areas of Oyo Central.
He affirmed that Ambassador Ora’nkan had been duly screened and cleared to vie for the party’s ticket.
“I can assure you that Ambassador Ora’nkan was passed by the screening committee in Abuja; I am the Secretary of the Committee. No other candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial District, except Ambassador Ora’nkan”, he confirmed.
Hon. Muhammad, who lauded the ACCORD delegates for their resilience, confidence and trust in Ambassador Ora’nkan, told the gathering that a Certificate of Return will be presented to the authentic winner (Ambassador Shakirullah Jimoh Ora’nkan) at Abuja.
Addressing the ACCORD faithfuls shortly after he has been declared as the party flag bearer for Oyo Central Senatorial District in 2027, Ambassador Shakirullah Jimoh Ora’nkan noted that the victory marked the beginning of a bold step to better reposition the constituency for unprecedented development and sustainable progress.
“I sincerely appreciate the collective mandate given to me as your trusted representative; we shall collectively change the narrative of infrastructure dearth, lack of welfare and unfulfilled promises”, Ora’nkan declared.
Ambassador Ora’nkan explained that his legislative agenda is tailored according to the needs and yearnings of the Constituents.
“My words are my bond, I will not say what I will not do- I believe much in actions for progress and development rather than sweet talks, he stated.
Ambassador Ora’nkan appealed to the delegates, leadership and members of Ora’nkan Support Group (OSG) and the generality of ACCORD leaders, supporters and well wishers to intensify efforts at mobilising the electorate for resounding victory during the forthcoming general elections.
