The Fast Moving Consumer Goods Association of Superstocks and distributors, a body of food and household product distributors in Oyo State, has paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, where discussions centred on investment growth, infrastructure needs and the strategic importance of Ibadan to national commerce.

The delegation, led by the President of the association, Pastor Samuel Orokunle, said the visit was aimed at strengthening ties with the palace and acknowledging the traditional institution as a key stakeholder in the state’s economic life.

He noted that Ibadan remains a major market hub, adding that without access to the city, many manufacturers would struggle to reach consumers across the South West. Pastor Samuel explained that several companies depend on the Ibadan market for their distribution chain, stressing that the association deals in fast-selling items such as noodles, vegetable oil and other consumer goods. He added that the group was committed to supporting the state’s economic growth.

The Vice President of the association, Adeogun Tunrayo Muslimat (ATM), also expressed gratitude to Oba Ladoja for his steady support for traders and distributors across the city. She said the palace has remained a pillar of unity and stability, which encourages businesses to thrive.

Responding, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, appreciated the group for the visit and their contribution to the state’s commercial activities. He noted that Ibadan already has a growing number of factories and viable road networks, but identified electricity supply as the major challenge limiting further investment.

He said improved power supply would attract more manufacturers to the state, stimulate production and create jobs. “What we need is steady light. Once we have that, investors will come and the economy will grow,” the Olubadan said.

The monarch assured the association of the palace’s continued support and encouraged them to engage government agencies where necessary. He added that the activities of distributors and middle-level suppliers play an important role in the economic life of Ibadan.

Other members of the association present were; Alh. Kuburat Oladunmoni, Alh. Tawa Sarafa Ali, Alh. Basira Adigun, Otunba Lantose, Mr Suara Omoowo, Dr. Adesewa, Alh. Oladejo Mufliat, Orelope, Mrs Oyenike Fadayomi, Alhaji Sheriff Taiwo, Ifedolapo, Alh. Sekinat Jolaoye, Alh. Olaide Hamzat.
