In a peaceful and transparent electoral process, Babalola Wisdom Oluwabukunmi of the Medical Laboratory Department has been elected as the President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology (OYSCOHEST), Eleyele, Ibadan, for the 2025/2026 session.
Babalola Wisdom secured 59 votes, defeating his closest rival, Kelvin Michael of the Oral Health Department, who garnered 52 votes. The election, which was closely contested, saw the emergence of a new team of executives who are expected to lead the student body in the upcoming academic session.
The elected executives are:
– President: Babalola Wisdom Oluwabukunmi (Medical Laboratory Department)
– Vice President: Awokayo Dominion
– General Secretary: FyneDavid Ngozi
– Financial Secretary: Bankole Akinniyi James
– Assistant Secretary: Abdulsalam Nastoh
– Social Director: Oyedare Omowumi Titilayo
– Public Relations Officer I: Oluwadare Priscilla
– Public Relations Officer II: Adebo Damilola
The election was characterized by a peaceful atmosphere, with representatives from the Independent Students’ Electoral Committee (ISEC), Departmental Security Services (DSS), National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), candidates’ agents, and observers present to monitor the proceedings.
The College Provost, Mrs. Oluyemisi Oyewo, congratulated the new executives and advised them to work as a team, avoid unilateral decisions, and maintain peace and unity among students. She also commended the Electoral Committee and other stakeholders for a job well done, promising the Management’s cooperation with the SUG executives to move the College forward.
The newly elected SUG executives were inaugurated by the Chairman of NANS Joint Campus Committee, Oyo axis, Comrade Taiwo Tiamiyu, after the election results were announced by the Chairman of ISEC.
