Unquestionably, Adebayo Adelabu displayed uncommon tranquility of mind and ably paraded what is known in Nicholas Berdyaev book as “a philosophy of inequality.”
His speech stuns like a sunfish and what can’t be denied is his activation of his acute listening gift and his down to heart answer to every question during a programme of human-to-human interaction.
His recent outing on a popular radio station in Ibadan, Oyo state capital was a smash hit. He was an interviewer’s delight not only because of his gift of the garb but largely his plainess and acuity. When he was asked why he hitched to a new party having exuded much confidence of winning APC primaries, Adelabu explained that what APC especially those he nicknamed as “political bandits” did during the Governorship primary was illegal and not in consonance with democratic ethics and was a slap on electoral law… It was akin to changing goalpost in the middle of the game.. It was anomaly when delegates list was tampered and skewed in favour of a particular aspirant. He asserted.
Adelabu also stressed also that he bolted out of the party when he unmistakably read the conspiracy theory being hatched against BAT whom he defer to as a a father and mentor. BAT ultimately emerged, only by stroke of luck as APC presidential candidate.
Adelabu’s popularity ratings have soared up and he has regarded what happened to him at the primary as a “blessing in disguise” a disgrace that has turned a grace.
Accord party, as Adelabu boasted, is no longer a third force but a main hub to reckon with based on his ever rising acceptability amongst the electorates. “If APGA, LABOUR, CPC etc could emerge like bolts from the blues and won elections in various states, why not Accord party that has become a “liberation movement” in Oyo state”?, he queried.
Accord will have its inroad in Oyo state according to his Governorship candidate, Chief Adelabu because it has come to right the abuse of internal democracy in the State and rework the broken value system.
In what seems as a replay of Marc Anthony’s role in the famous novel “Julius Caesar” where Anthony says he has not come to do other things but bury Caesar, Chief Adelabu who also said he didn’t come to attack the government of the day used the occasion to throw jibes on Governor Seyi Makinde eventually describing as “who is not making achievable realisable because of his policy wonk, misplaced priority and lack of openess in governance which have combined to erode what could have been a State achievement, if any.
Chief Adelabu didn’t talk as a “scented genius, he was not merely grandiloquent as he stated without being immodest how he used his ideological and experiential influences to the glory of Oyo state while in CBN as Deputy Governor. He made it known that he made hundreds of Oyo indigenes secured jobs at the bankers bank, while he facilitated the building of Technical University and others in the State. He therefore challenged other candidates to mention their own investments in the State.
Chief Adelabu who sees Accord party as the prayers answered states that the party has come to fill in the generational gaps as it parades young and verdant men and women who have lots to offer judged by their track records. Right from Professor Christopher Imumolen who was a vibrant engineer at BOC Gases Plc as its presidential candidate in his thirties, the contenders for various positions in the State are are also young and willing to deliver.
Chief Adelabu during the interview touched on different areas on how to give humanity a priority, place premium on Agriculture, better infrastructure and build an all encompassing and transparent governance if voted into power.
It has now gone beyond doubts that Chief Adelabu has thriving ventures in hospitality, real estate, farming etc all located in Oyo state.
How the story ends as our elders say, is not as important as the message it teaches, Chief Adelabu is well made already with different businesses located in Oyo state and staffers regularly paid, he is just an option which exceeds what the present order really offers. Let’s give him a benefit of trial as the next Governor of Oyo state comes 2023 .
