In what could be termed as illegal pronouncement, the Adebo Ogundoyin-led Oyo Assembly on Wednesday directed the Chief Judge of Oyo state to set up a panel of seven persons to investigate Seyi Makinde’s deputy, Rauf Olaniyan over allegations of gross misconduct.

This, OYOINSIGHT.COM understands, was against the court pronouncement asking the Assembly, dominated by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmakers to maintain status quo pending the determination of a case brought before it by Olaniyan.

Olaniyan, it would be recalled, had dragged the assembly to court following the allegations leveled against him few days after ditching the ruling PDP for opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.

Though Asimiyu Alarape, APC lawmaker and minority leader opposed the pronouncement, the motion to the CJ to investigate Olaniyan was moved by the majority leader, Hon Sanjo Onaolapo and Hon Akintunde Olajide during the plenary.

This was just as the house directed the panel to report its findings within three months of its appointment.

Checks by OYOINSIGHT.COM revealed that the court was sitting as at the time the house was giving the pronouncement.

The court, it could be recalled, had adjourned till today to allow the appellant’s lawyers reply to the defendants’ responses in the case presided over by Justice Oladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court.
