Dr. Maroof Akinwande, who represented Oyo federal constituency between 2003 and 2007 in the house of representatives, has advised aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to forget the past and be committed to working for the party.
Akinwande, who made this known in his new year message, asked people to adhere to the guidelines of the coronavirus pandemic as the Omicron variant is still troubling the world.
SEASON GREETINGS AND COMPLIMENT OF THE SEASON TO THE OYOS
We woke up today to begin another episode of the year, 2022. As we route into another calendar year, I wish all and sundry happy new year and more prosperous years ahead.
The Creator has been merciful to us. He counts us among the living souls. It’s an opportunity that many were denied.
We must therefore use the grace of life and this festive period to extend, spread and admonish love to all and be our brother’s keeper.
Be that as it may, I’m using this period to implore us to remain law abiding citizens and celebrate the new year in a lawful manner.
As we journey through the yuletide to the new year, it is important we remind ourselves of the new variant, omicron, of Covid-19. It’s no more news that this virus is already in Nigeria. Equally it’s vitality is not is doubt. We must, however, ensure that we take all necessary non pharmaceutical measures as directed by NCDC in this Festive period. It’s my prayer that we all live through this trying times without contacting this deadly virus.
I urge us all to ensure we take the Covid-19 Vaccine, the first jab, the second which is booster dose. Do not panic! IT’S SAFE AND BENEFICIAL. Prevention is better than cure!
On a different note, I’m using this moment to plead to all aggrieved members of our great party, PDP, in Oyo State and most especially in ‘Oyo Federal Constituency,’ to bury our differences and join hand with our Governor, Engr.Seyi Makinde, in taking our party to victory come 2023.
It’s important that we unite, forge a formidable alliance and present a credible, presentable’ acceptable, and marketable candidates, in Oyo Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general election . History must not be allowed to repeat itself.
As we are all aware, we are going into polls in the next 14 months. I call on all eligible voters who have not registered to use the opportunity of ongoing continue voters registration at INEC offices in our Local Goverments to go and do so.
It will be a great injustice, if I fail to recognize the unquantifiable good works of our Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde and all the local Government Chairmen, Deputies, the Councilors , Secretaries, Chief of staffs and Supervisors in Oyo Federal Constituency. I wish you all successful and rewarding tenure.
On a final note, I thank all my people, my friends and my family for your forthright love and supports, “when the going is tough, it is only the tough that gets going”.
Once again, happy new year and more prosperous years ahead.
