Ajimobi, it would be recalled, had died June 25, 2020 at a Lagos hospital, almost two months after testing positive to coronavirus pandemic.

Akintunde, who served under the two-term former governor as commissioner for works and transport and later as executive assistant, said that Ajimobi changed the face of the state in every sector, adding that people are now appreciating him.

According to the Oyo-born politician, who is eyeing the Oyo central senatorial district ticket of the APC in the 2023 election, the people of the state would continue to remember the Ajimobi administration.

”Our late leader brought finesse into office. He changed the way things were done. Insecurity became a forgotten thing. Education, health, infrastructure, environment received boosts. Oyo became so secured under the him that the harvest of peace brought many companies to the state.

“Even those who are his sworn enemies testify to the way he turned things around. They were proud to call Oyo State their own.

”Yes, as a Muslim, I believe every human would taste death. Sen. Ajimobi deserves to be celebrated for everything he did. We are not saying he was without shortcomings, he performed excellently. We can only pray Allah to overlook his shortcomings and grant him aljanah,” Akintunde added.
