A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ogbomosho, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, has urged Governor Seyi Makinde to reconsider his decision to convert the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, to a multi campus institution.

OYOINSIGHT.COM recalls that the governor had last week announced that the institution will now operate on a multi-campus system following the dissolution of its joint ownership with Osun State.

In a statement made available to this newspaper on Saturday, Open Salawu explained that converting the institution into a multi-campus one means the government will split the economy of Ogbomosho, which relies largely on the institution.

“We really appreciate efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde in getting LAUTECH sole ownership deal and pray the running of the institution will be smoothly and better than what it was.

“Multi-campus system would not be a good idea for LAUTECH knowing fully well that the only major source of economic activity in Ogbomoso zone is LAUTECH and splitting the faculties to other zones of the state will be grossly neglecting us in Ogbomoso.

“We know the Governor have the executive power but he should not use it negatively. Our people are happy that Oyo state owns LAUTECH now and the benefits of a fully University should not be taken away from us please,” Open Salawu said.
