A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Niyi Akintola has revealed that politics is Nigeria is played to primarily satisfy the interest of politicians .
Akintola, a 2019 gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, revealed this in an interview on Fresh FM this morning.
Speaking on the recently held gubernatorial election in Edo State, Akintola explained that the crisis in the party cost it victory at the polls.
“In the case of Edo, APC shot ourselves in the foot. Most of us were behind Obaseki and other governors too. You can’t strip someone naked in the market and then praise him to high heavens. We told Oshiomole to let Obaseki go to the primaries but he did not accept. Intra party crisis is deeper than you think.
“There are certain things we can’t say online, I have many friends in APC. When we shoot political guns, people get carried away. It is all about interest. If you listened to Ken Nnamandi when he talked 3 days ago, you will know where the Igbos are tilting toward. The governor said he was making himself the sacrificial lamb.
“When Jonathan was there, there was no Yoruba man from number one to 17, it’s about interest. Ize Iyamu candidate’s was dead on arrival.
“I won’t say he will come back to APC but you should read between the lines. In politics, anything can happen. There is this dichotomy between inter-party and intra-party crisis.”
