Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu has distributed cash gifts, staple foods and other lofty items to the vulnerable people in the State.
The humanitarian gesture which featured the distribution of raw food items like rice, beans, garri, yam flour, semolina, beverages and others cut across the 33 local government areas was said to enable the people to have joyous moods in the prevailing economic meltdown.
Sunmonu, the immediate past Senator represented Oyo Central senatorial district in her remarks on the phone conversations with newsmen stressed that she felt constraint as her usual ritual performance to support the indigent residents and others in the society to have a sense of equality with the present economic reality in the country.
The leader of Unity Forum however prayed Almighty to heal the global world of the ravaging COVID-19. She equally commended the efforts of the Task Force chaired by Governor Seyi Makinde on the spirited efforts in curtailing the spread of the pandemic.
Alhaja Sunmonu, the first female speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly aslo enjoined the people of the State to continue supporting and abiding by the preventive measures employed by Government and health organizations in curtailing the widely spread coronavirus.
Senator Sunmonu therefore congratulated Islamic religious clerics, leaders and worshippers on the celebration of this year’s Ramadan fast and admonished all and sundry to utilize the spiritual grace of the season to fervently pray for the divine end to the scourge of the COVID-19 pandemic across the globe.
