Seyi Makinde’s special adviser on culture and tourism, Alhaji Taye Akande Adebisi, has reacted to allegations that he did not undergo any coronavirus test upon his arrival from the United Kingdom before performing at the unification rally of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, held in Ibadan on Wednesday.

In a reply by his media office, Currency, who is a popular Fuji musician, described the report as a way to paint the PDP unification rally negative before Nigerians and urged people to wise up.

Recall that OYOINSIGHT.COM yesterday reported how Currency performed at a rally in Ibadan, the state capital less than 24 hours after returning from the UK, one of the worst-hit countries by coronavirus.

However, he described the report as a handiwork of his critics, who find joy in denting the image of the people to gain cheap popularity.

He also described the writer of the report as naive, adding that, “he is a mere fabricator, who sits at his comfort zone and fabricate a story with the intention to deceive the people.”

Further investigations by OYOINSIGHT.COM to verify the claims of the musician shows that his performance at the PDP rally is still a disregard of the coronavirus guidelines contained in a public health advisory to Nigerians on coronavirus disease by the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control dated the 15th of March 2019, which states,” travelers from countries with widespread community transmission must undergo secondary screening at the point of entry, self-isolate for 14 days after arrival and be followed up by NCDC and Port Health Services”.

His reaction reads further: “I am hale and healthy. I passed through all procedures before being allowed to board the plane, not even in the United Kingdom that something of such could happen, not even at this period that every country is being proactive against the coronavirus.”

His statement, OYOINSIGHT.COM understands, shows that even he knows that he disobeyed the coronavirus guidelines because he claimed he was tested in the UK when the guidelines state clearly that he “must undergo secondary screening at the point of entry”.

His performance at a rally where thousands of people were present also negates the rule that he must “self-isolate for 14 days after arrival and be followed up by NCDC and Port Health Services”.
