The burial arrangement for murdered lawmaker representing Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency, Hon. Temitope Olatoye Sugar, is out.
OYO INSIGHT learnt that the activities will commence with the commissioning of some of the projects already done by the late lawmaker.
Sugar, as Olatoye, who was the Oyo Central senatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, in the February 23rd, 2019 National Assembly election, was known, was killed on March 10, 2019, in Lalupon while returning from his Alape village where he had gone to exercise his franchise.
Though there are disagreements over where exactly his remains would be interred, family members, friends and political associates have agreed on other events lined up for the funeral.
Spokesperson for the burial committee, Hon. Wole Akinleye, told OYO INSIGHT that on the 29th of April, a block of 20 toilets at Durbar area of Oyo East local government as well as a block of three classrooms at Aroro Makinde area of Akinyele local government would be commissioned.
On 30th April, a public health centre at Ayepe area of Egbeda local government and a reconstructed Chief Magistrate Court at Ejioku area of Lagelu local government would be commissioned while there would be a special performance by people with disabilities at the deceased Everlasting Garden.
An inaugural memorial lecture in honor of the deceased lawmaker will hold at Premier Hotel on May 1 after which the Olatoye Sugar memorial hall at University of Ibadan, UI, Center for Peace and Conflict Studies will be commissioned. That same day, an artistes and tributes evening will hold at Everlasting Garden.
On April 2nd, Sugar’s remains would be taken to the floor of the Oyo State House of Assembly, where he represented Lagelu State Constituency between 2011 and 2015. In the evening, the Christian Wake keep will hold at Everlasting Garden.
After the Church service on Friday, his remains would be interred at a yet-to-be decided location after which the guests will be entertained at Everlasting Garden.
